WHAT CURRICULUM DOES GIS OFFERS?
GIS offers the MONTESSORI CURRICULUM for the Kindergarteners & for Grade 1 to 5, We Offer the NCERT CURRICULUM for Grades 1 to 8, is Followed.
WHAT IS THE MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION? / WHAT ARE THE SECOND LANGUAGE OPTIONS?
In alignment to the CBSE Curriculum, the medium of instruction is English. GIS offers Hindi & Tamil as the Second and Third Language.
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO THE TEACHERS HAVE?
All teachers are academically and professionally qualified with a minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching in Central Board of Secondary Education schools.
HOW WILL MY CHILD ASSESSED FOR LEARNING?
GIS has a Structured Assessment Program based on Regular Periodic Assessments (PA) and Terminal Assessments (TA). This assessment program is supplemented by standardised testing, where applicable, to benchmark the learning achievements of our students until the current progress. In summary:
- For Classes 1 - 8, there will be 4 PAs & 2 TAs.
- For Classes 6 – 8, there are 4 FAs and 2 Model Assessments and 2 Terminal Assessments.

ADMISSIONS
WHAT IS THE ACADEMIC YEAR FOR GIS?
GIS academic calendar is from April to March with Semester I - April to October, and Semester II - November to March. Students from other kindergartens who are from 4 years of age are welcome to join GIS’s Reception Year Grade or Grade 1 if they have graduated from the kindergarten. We welcome students studying in other international schools into the same class during the Current Academic Session, if they match the Age Criteria for Admission to that Grade.

IS MID TERM ADMISSION OFFERED IN GIS?
GIS has a rolling admissions policy (i.e.) admission happens throughout the year. Admissions during a term are offered keeping in mind the movements of expatriates and would depend on the vacancy in the relevant grade at the time of admission.
HOW WELL CAN A STUDENT COPE UP WITH THE CBSE CURRICULUM, WHEN THE STUDENT COMES FROM DIFFERENT CURRICULUM THAT GIS OFFERS?
A proficiency test will be administered to the student at the time of enrolment to identify the learning gaps and accordingly, a bridging program will be planned by our experienced teachers to facilitate a seamless transition into the student’s current class.
WHAT DOES THE ADMISSION TEST CONSIST OF?
Grades 1 to 5: English test includes Comprehension, Grammar, and Writing; and Math & Science test includes Age-Appropriate questions for each grade.
Grade 6 to 8: Math, English, and Science. The questions would be age appropriate for each grade. The duration of the test would vary from 45 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the Grade and subject tested.
WHEN CAN WE VISIT THE CAMPUS?
Campus visits can be arranged by prior appointment with the school.
SCHOOL OPERATIONS
WHAT ARE THE REGULAR SCHOOL TIMINGS?
School timings for PRE-KG from Monday to Friday is 9.30 am to 12.30 PM. Kindergarten & Classes 1 to 8 from Monday to Friday is 9.30 AM to 4.00 PM.
IS THERE ATTENDANCE POLICY AT GIS?
Students are expected to attend school at all times unless they have valid excuses. The minimum attendance requirement for all students is 85%.
3.WHAT IS THE STUDENT TEACHER RATIO?
The maximum number of students in each class/section is not more than 25.
WHAT ARE THE CCA’s OFFERED AND WHAT ARE THE TIMINGS?
There is a range of Co-curricular activities such as ARCHERY, BHARATHA NAATYAM, KARATE, KEYBOARD, SILAMBAM, SKATING., which are included in the daily timetable and held during School Hours from 3.00 PM to 4.00 PM.
CAN MY CHILD BRING SNACKS/LUNCH TO SCHOOL?
Fortunately, GIS offers a canteen facility at our school, called “THE GOLDEN CRUNCH”. We provide Healthy Food Options & shows varieties in Morning Snack, Lunch & Evening Drink. Studentsare expected to carry packed lunch, if you don’t opt for the Mess Facility.
WHAT IS THE STUDENT TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENT?
